Books on Prescription Scheme

 

The Wellbeing Project has teamed up with the Health Improvement Team to bring you the 'Books on Prescription' Scheme from our premises.

 

Many self help books have been shown to be very useful in helping people to overcome a range of psychological problems. The use of books as a means of providing psychological therapy is known as bibliotherapy.

 

The Wellbeing Project now has an extensive list of approved books on a wide range of psychological conditions including:

 

  • Depression
  • Panic disorders
  • Low self esteem
  • Stress
  • Eating disorders
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorders
  • Gambling problems
  • Social phobia
  • The aftermath of sexual abuse

 

 How does the scheme work?

 

The Books on Prescription Scheme is free and simple to use.

 

You simply pop along to the Wellbeing Project offices (full address below), where you can fill out a simple registration form and have a look through the full library of books. A member of staff will be on hand to help you if needed.

 

Once you've found a book your interested in you can loan it to take home and read. The scheme offers extended loan periods of up to 8 weeks for any of the books included in the scheme.

 

When you've finished with the book, simply return, and if you like - hire another one!
