Over 200 people attend wellbeing Project Inaugural Conference
The down pour of rain did little to hamper the efforts of over 200 delegates who descended on Liverpool to mark the official launch of the Wellbeing Project CIC on Wednesday 11th October.
People came from all across the country to listen to the influential speakers who are also key supporters of the Wellbeing Project CIC, and our vision to deliver innovative mental health promotion materials and services, while also supporting recovery and personal development.
Under the watchful eye of Chair Dave Sweeney, CAMHS Commissioner for Halton & St Helens PCT, the day ran like a well oiled wheel...
Dr Chris Manning, CEO Primhe, 'jolted' the crowd into action with his 'energising' presentation - 'Wired for Health'... in which he eloquently explored the proven FACT that we are all wired for health - and that this is an intrinsic part of our very being...
This was followed by Dr Laura Pogue, GP wsi Mental Health, Halton & St Helens PCT who 'cooked up' a 'Recipe for Wellbeing' for the audience, by offering 'tasters' of specific wellbeing interventions in the primary care health setting. Laura also offered an insight into her own interests and hobbies that help to nourish her sense of wellbeing.
Michael Norton, OBE invited the audience to 'Change the World' - and presented a plethora of examples of 'ordinary people' who have done something 'extraordinary' and in doing so have become 'extraordinary individuals'. Michael a founder of Unltd - the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs, put forward the notion that we shouldn't be reliant on others to effect change, we should be willing to do this our selves, and in doing so the personal rewards will include a greater sense of community, citizenship and wellbeing.

The final presentation was delivered by Dr Sam Thompson, from nef - (The New Economics Foundation) who offered an insightful look at how policy might look if it were to reflect wellbeing. Sam explored the current research findings and expert recommendations relating to sustainable communities, happiness and economic growth.
The showcase of the Wellbeing Project Education and Training Resource Film tied all the elements of the day neatly together, and appeared symbolic of the 'holistic' and 'all-encompassing' nature of the wellbeing notion, and how organisations across all sectors will need to work together if they are to have a lasting affect on the quality of people's living. view clip of film
