The Wellbeing Project is a Finalist in the Prestigious Northwest Health & Social Care Awards 2010

The Wellbeing Project is delighted to learn that it is a finalist in the Northwest Health & Social Care Awards 2010 in the category of Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Having fought off strong competition from more than 1300 applicants, the Wellbeing Project’s ‘Ignite Your Life!’ Community Resilience Programme is now down to the last 3 contenders!

The ‘Ignite Your Life!’ Community Resilience Programme is being delivered in partnership with NHS Halton and St Helens, Halton Council and St Helens Council. To date, the programme has been delivered to more than 460 people.

The programme invites the general public to take part in a series of events that teach people the simple tools and techniques to stay resilient during difficult times. Furthermore, the programme educates people about the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems like depression and anxiety and how and where to seek help.

Mark Swift Programme Manager for the Wellbeing Project said:

“To have had our programme go through as a finalist is an achievement in its own right. We’re absolutely delighted! We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for the big day”.

Dr Laura Pogue and Paula Gamester, Co-Directors are understandably “thrilled”

“It’s fantastic to think that this project has stood out and impressed the judges. This programme really is having a lasting impact in our communities”.

The Health and Social Care Awards has an established nine year history and provides an unparalleled opportunity to highlight and celebrate innovation and excellence in the provision of frontline health and social care.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 7th October when the Wellbeing Project will learn if it has won this most coveted award.

Dave Sweeney, Operational Director for Partnership Commissioning for NHS Halton and St Helens said:

“We’re delighted that this programme has gone through to the final stages of the Health & Social Care Awards. It’s a great example of effective partnership working and demonstrates how in Halton and St Helens we are working with our communities to help to enhance their mental wellbeing and realise the big society agenda”.

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Finalists are:

  • The Wellbeing Project CIC - NHS Halton and St Helens
  • Primary / Intermediate Mental Health Services Blackpool - NHS Blackpool
  • 'With U in Mind' Young Person's Handbook and Website - Collaboration between Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and Streetwise 2000 Young Persons Service
