Wellbeing for Mums and Dads to be

A pioneering new health programme for people living in Halton and St Helens who are expecting a baby...

‘Wellbeing for Mums and Dads to be...’ is a unique programme funded by NHS Halton and St Helens, that aims to educate parents about the simple things they can do to improve their own health and wellbeing, as well as improve the life chances of their baby.

The 2.5 hour sessions will include workshops on the following topics:

  • How to spot the signs and symptoms of post natal depression and other common mental health problems, and importantly what you can do to help yourself if you’re experiencing difficulties.
  • Top tips for baby wellbeing: simple steps that parents can introduce into their daily routines to support baby development and ensure their child has the best start in life.
  • Ways to improve the quality of your family time, so that everyone feels supported and nourished.

This innovative programme is free of charge for expectant parents who live in Halton or St Helens. There will be morning and afternoon sessions taking place on Tuesday 18th May 2010, venue to be confirmed.

Course Facilitators Elaine Hanzak and Ann Girling explain how this programme ‘builds on the information parents will learn from their Midwifes and Health Visitors so that they are clear about the simple things they can do to improve their own and their baby’s sense of wellbeing now and over the coming years’.

Wellbeing Project Co-Directors Paula Gamester and Dr Laura Pogue explain how ‘promoting the wellbeing of baby in the early years lays the foundations for healthy and happy individuals in later life. We hope that this project will empower parents to see what a difference taking simple steps in the early years can make to the quality of their own and their baby’s wellbeing’.

Everyone who attends the programme will receive a free £10 love2shop gift voucher and there will be lots of free goodies for expectant parents to take away.
