Our courses are all about unlocking the skills and talents of local people and raising awareness of the assets in our local communities that keep us well.
The courses enable people to:

- Have fun

- Get involved in the local community.
Some of The Wellbeing Project's Social Prescribing Courses
'New You' Programme
The New You Programme is a 6-week course for women that focuses on improving confidence and self esteem. In essence, the course is about feeling good, and about enabling you to focus your mind on achieving your goals.
There are lots of things you can do to enhance your sense of wellbeing. This course aims to raise awareness of the positive steps for good mental health
During the 6-weeks the course will cover the following topics:
• Introducing self-talk.
• Emotional needs
• Positive steps for better mental health
• Using your imagination - guided imagery
During this course there will be an opportunity for you to attend a hair salon and for you to choose from a selection of treatments free of charge.
‘Confidence to Cook’ Programme
This course focuses on understanding which foods help promote positive mental health and wellbeing and encouraging your confidence in choosing and cooking with them, making it easy to release your inner cook and incorporate healthy eating into your lifestyle.
What will I learn?
• The links between health and diet.
• How your diet can impact on your mood and energy levels
• Which foods can make you feel positive
• How you can easily adapt your eating habits
• Planning and shopping for healthy meals
• How to choose and prepare easy healthy meals
• How to enjoy cooking and eating healthy food
'Time Out' Programme
This 6 week course offers a unique opportunity for participants to review some life changing popular music and film.
We'll be exploring the current evidence base for promoting positive mental health, using the media of popular music and film.
The course will cover the following ‘feel good’ topics:
• Positive steps – what works to promote positive mental health?
• The concept of flow – when hours past by like minutes…
• Creativity and mental health – connecting with our innate creative self
• Reflecting on our sense of ‘feeling good’
• Relaxation techniques – tips to chill out
• Connecting with nature – chillax in the ‘green’
• Metaphor and the mind – stories and healing
• Emotional needs – flourishing minds
Take ‘time out’ to unwind and connect with like-minded people as we explore what it means to feel good and function well.
As part of the course there will be an opportunity to visit a cinema to review a current film. This trip is free of charge.
'Arts & Minds' Programme
Broaden your horizons, as we set out on a quest to appreciate art and culture and its place in modern society.
The course will cover the following ‘feel good’ topics:
• Positive steps – what works to promote positive mental health?
• The concept of flow – when hours past by like minutes…
• Creativity and mental health – connecting with our innate creative self
• Relaxation techniques – tips to chill out
• Connecting with art and culture – a brief history of
• Art, culture and the mind – expressing our inner self
• Emotional needs – flourishing minds
• Art and community cohesion – bringing people together
In addition to this, one full afternoon will involve a trip to an art gallery and to see a piece of public art. This trip is free of charge.
