Why do we dream? - A new site dedicated to explaining the expectation fulfilment theory of dreaming.

HAVE YOU ever wondered why we evolved to dream? Or why dreams can seem so real and meaningful when we are experiencing them but are mostly forgotten? Or why, when we do manage to remember a dream, it often seems so weird?

Far from being a mere by-product of 'brain down-time' as some people think, dreaming plays a central role in keeping us sane and in some circumstances, it can quite literally, drive us mad.

A new website ( http://www-why-we-dream.com ) has been launched that explores in depth the expectation fulfilment theory, the latest psychobiological explanation of what dreaming does for us.

By piecing together the most recent scientific findings and psychological understanding, and adding groundbreaking discoveries of his own, Joe Griffin has revealed what turns out to be a strikingly simple and satisfying explanation for why we dream and outlines the implications this theory has for treating depression and psychosis.

Filled with information and research, the website explains in depth:

- why dreams can be so strange
- why dreams can feel so meaningful
- why we dream in metaphor
- what the REM state actually is
- how hypnosis works
- the cycle of depression and how you can innoculate yourself against it
- the link between dreaming and psychosis
- how to interpret your own dreams
